Review of Ward B4 written by a patient
12th September 2018

I was a day patient on Ward B4. It was a slow process however, I was well looked after by my nurse Gill. She kept me updated and explained why I was required to do things etc throughout my stay on the ward. Once my procedure was underway I was treated very well by the Consultant and his theatre staff. They explained what was about to take place in detail to ease any concerns I may have had. They were all wonderful and I felt anyone who was anxious or worried would fell more at ease with these ladies. I received excellent aftercare in the recovery room and back on Ward B4 with Gill. Overall, everyone at Halton from Tony the porter, Gill, Gary in recovery and the theatre team were very professional, informative and caring. To top it all they did it with a smile. Well done to all and many thanks !

The care I received in ward B4 Day Care unit was excellent. For me everything ran very smoothly and efficiently. I was treated with dignity and respect and the process was explained to me beforehand. Just one or two areas to note; I struggled to hear the doctor at times as they kept turning their head away when speaking, the voice was softly spoken and with an accent, so I think I missed some of the details regarding my case. Therefore it would be helpful if the doctor was mindful of my hearing problem. It would also have been helpful to have sight of the ward telephone number prior to the operation - for family to get an update and pick up time.

I was triaged by Susan Petley within five minutes. Susan identified the object lodged in my ear canal and promptly removed it. She followed this up with advice and treated me wonderfully throughout. Please pass on my gratitude to Susan. Thank you so much - a minor problem in the grand scheme of things that the UCC must deal with but it was painful and uncomfortable and exacerbated my existing hearing impairment. The relief when it was resolved was immediate.

28th July 2018

From my pre-op appointment to my day care stay yesterday 27.7.18 I can honestly say Halton Hospital is first class. I was made to feel at ease from the moment I walked through the doors. I was asked to come in for 9am and although my operation didn’t take place until 3pm that afternoon I was looked after by incredibly hardworking, thoughtful and caring staff. It was also good to have a tv on the ward which was a great distraction. Initially everything was explained to me by Consulant Ms Gossedge and her male colleague who both also came to tell me how the operation had gone. The Anethasist Mrs Fazacerley and girls who prepared me for theatre made me feel calm in what was an anxious time. Gill, my nurse who looked after me throughout the day is a credit to her profession and a prize asset to Halton Hospital. Not only did she carry out her duties diligently she went out of her way to be both warm and friendly to myself and my husband when he came later to collect me. Gill lightened the mood by making me and the other patients on Ward B4 laugh and feel at ease during a time when you can be quite fearful and anxious. Thank You Gill x Halton Hospital staff you get a 10 from me

Review of Day Case Treatment Centre Halton written by a patient
3rd July 2018

The service and care are extremely good so I don't have a complain at such. Just one point - it would seem a long time to wait as I was expected at 7.30am when my op was at 2.30pm. Just wondering if a later start for those who's op is happening in the afternoon. I appreciate there are procedures to look into before the op but 7 hours is a long time to wait around in an empty stomach. Of course I don't know the ins and outs of a normal day at the hospital but from the patient point of view, I am sure, a shorter waiting time will be preferred. I am very thankful for the care I've received.

Review of CMTC written by a patient

Some times the nurses and physio's didn't seem to be singing of the same hymn sheet nothing major. Just the best way to get dressed the use of pillows when sleeping ECT a nurse may tell you a different way than the physio. Apart from this my stay on the ward was pleasant with all the staff doing their jobs with the Ut-most professionalism.
